Festival Checklist

Before the festival:

*    Attend our Orientation Session for useful information to help prepare for the festival.

*    Confirm numbers of your group to the Forest Festival Coordinator two weeks prior to the festival.

*    Submit payment  to Conservation Halton c/o Halton Forest Festival a week prior to the event.

*    Inform students in advance that they will be outdoors all day so they may prepare proper clothing and shoes (there is no bad weather, just bad clothing!) as well as a litterless lunch and water bottle.

*    The Festival Coordinator will send the main registrant a designated number of daily schedules in the days leading up to your attendance.  Evenly separate your class into this assigned number of groups (no more than 15 students per group) to ensure a quick seamless start to the day.

*    Identify any health or special needs within your class to the Forest Festival Coordinator and ensure students have all appropriate support and/or medication at the festival with them throughout the day.

On the day of the festival:

*    The Halton Forest Festival will be held rain or shine. Ensure that everyone is dressed for the outdoors. The site may be wet in places, so closed-toe waterproof footwear is a good idea.

*    Ensure each group of 10-15 students has an adult supervisor, who is equipped with a Festival Site Map, group’s schedule and names of the students in their group along with any health concerns.

*    Upon arrival, please have all students remain on the bus for a Festival greeting and updated information for the day. Staff will provide the bus driver with a sign stating your school’s name to display in the window so Festival staff can readily identify your bus at the end of the day.

*    Once off the bus, you will be directed to a lunch tent where your group can leave bags and other items that you do not wish to bring with you to each station.  This will be the location where you will also return for lunch and at the end of the day.

*    Lunch is scheduled from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm  All activities will stop during this time.

*    The Festival activities end at 1:30 pm  All activities will shut down at this time. Buses will load between 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm.

*    Your class will be chaperoned to your bus at the end of the day by busing volunteers.  Please wait for them in with your entire school group at the end of the day.

After the festival:

*    Please complete our festival feedback form online with your comments on your visit so that we can continue to make an excellent event that students can both enjoy and learn from.

Thank you!
